"This group of girls helped me find a smile that I thought was gone forever" - Harper Murray about Nebraska Volleyball teammates
Harper Murray joined Nebraska Volleyball in the 2023 season, and following an incredible freshman year, the 19-year-old was slated for more success in 2024. However, she struggled with mental health issues and faced a DUI arrest and shoplifting charges during the season.
Nevertheless, Nebraska Volleyball teammates stood behind her and supported her with the two-time All-American, expressing gratitude in a heartwarming note at the end of the season.
"I have never been more proud. This group of girls helped me find a smile that I thought was gone forever and I am so damn proud. Being surrounded by people who refuse to give up on you and stay by your side is the biggest gift of all time," Harper Murray said.
Murray led Nebraska to NCAA semifinals against Penn State, but the Cornhuskers lost after winning the first two sets. She was nonetheless proud of the team's effort, writing:
"I love this team with all of my heart and am forever grateful for every memory we have together. Volleyball isnt about wins, losses, kills, stats...its about finding the positive and being proud of the growth we have made as people and to enjoy what we did together. gbr forever see u next year," she added.
Murray will share added responsibilities next season after the Cornhuskers lost senior players Merrit Beason and Lexi Rodriguez, who completed their collegiate careers and turned pro.
