Olivia Dunne, who was part of LSU’s NCAA championship-winning gymnastics team in April, took part in the team’s first intrasquad competition of the preseason over the weekend. This comes just a few months before the 2025 season starts in January.
On Monday, the team's Instagram handle shared glimpses from the session at the LSU Gymnastics Training Facility. The photos showed Amari Drayton, Lexi Zeiss and Kylie Coen along with seniors like Dunne, Aleah Finnegan and Sierra Ballard.
In the pictures, the gymnasts can be seen having a good time. While Dunne executed her floor exercise, Ballard and Tori Tatum performed on vault and uneven bars.
The LSU Instagram handle added in the caption:
"Loving every minute of the grind. First intrasquad of the year was a good one."
Here are a few pictures from Olivia Dunne and other LSU gymnasts' time at the intrasquad competition.
The LSU Tigers' first clash in the new season is against Iowa State on Jan. 3 (Friday) at Baton Rouge in the Maravich Center, while the team will also participate in an exhibition Gymnastics 101 event on Dec. 16.
Olivia Dunne opens up about the hardships she had to face while developing her social media game
LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne recently opened up about the struggles that she had to face before becoming the most followed collegiate gymnast in the country.
In a Flaunt magazine interview this month, Dunne said her social media fame is the consequence of a cumulative process. She said:
"I worked really hard to get to where I am in building my personal brand, and it didn’t happen in the blink of an eye. It didn’t happen in just a year. It didn’t happen because of one viral moment.
"It happened over years of getting to know my audience, learning the algorithms, and growing my brand to be what it is today. That’s why people are so fascinated with what I’m doing."
Olivia Dunne also opened up about her love for 2008 Olympics gold medalist Nastia Liukin (all-around) and how she explored media endeavors outside of gymnastics. After she retired from gymnastics, Liukin worked in numerous shows broadcasted by prominent media houses such as Fox and NBC.
