Olivia Dunne is geared up for LSU's highly anticipated season opener against Iowa State on Friday and modeled a stylish leotard for the program ahead of the meet. The gymnast is in her fifth and final year with the Lady Tigers, having graduated in interdisciplinary studies in 2024.
LSU Gymnastics' Instagram handle shared a series of pictures of Dunne rocking the diamond-themed white leotard on Friday morning as they take on Iowa State inside the PMAC arena. The Tigers previously donned the Leotard during the 2023 SEC Championships and against Arkansas in 2024, and will now take on Iowa State in the same on Friday night.
Dunne also expressed her excitement in the comments section as they look to defend the NCAA Gymnastics Championships.
"We’re so back," Olivia Dunne wrote.
The Tigers won the program's maiden national gymnastics title in 2024. Dunne led the scoring in the floor exercise and uneven bars competition, averaging scores of 9.857 and 9.838 respectively. However, she didn't compete during the finals against California, Utah, and Florida as LSU was crowned champions after scoring 198.2250.
The 22-year-old Dunne was ecstatic following the victory and said it rejuvenated her love for sport. She eventually decided to make use of her extra year of eligibility and return for a fifth and final year.
"I want to feel that again" - Olivia Dunne eyeing another national title with LSU in 2025
Speaking in an interview with the New York Post in September 2024, Olivia Dunne took pride in LSU's 2024 NCAA Championship triumph and said she wanted to live that victorious moment again when they set to defend the title on January 3rd against Iowa State.
"Our team made LSU history - first national championship. It was so exciting for not only our team, but the whole university. And that's a feeling that I want to feel again," she said.
The 22-year-old reiterated that winning the national title had helped her fall back in love with gymnastics.
"It was so special and the bond with the girls - And I've really found my love for the sport again last year, I'd say. So that's one of the main reasons why I wanted to come back," Dunne added.
As she welcomed the New Year on Wednesday, Dunne noted that her goal for the 2025 was same as that of last year - winning the NCAA Gymnastics Championship with LSU's Lady Tigers.
