Alica Schmidt penned a heartfelt note after her heartbreaking Paris Olympics experience

Alica Schmidt fell short of winning medals at the Paris Olympics, as she couldn't make it to the finals of the events she was supposed to participate in. The 25-year-old failed to reach the finals of the women's 4x400m relay after she and her team claimed a seventh-place finish in Heat 2 of the event. This was followed by a similar fate in the mixed 4x400m relay race, where she and her team again finished out of contention in the race.

Following this experience, she took to her Instagram and shared a post channeling her upsetting time in Paris. Along with this, she shared a bunch of pictures that showcased her time during the event. The post's caption read:

"The Olympics are not just about winning medals. It‘s about being alongside inspiring athletes while competing at the highest level. Showing ambition, celebrating diversity and people no matter who they are and where they are from. The past weeks were an emotional rollercoaster and I was able to learn a lot. As an athlete I am still not where I want to be and maybe I will never be. But the one thing that is for sure: I will never stop trying and figuring out ways to improve. I love taking you guys with me on this journey and hope to inspire young athletes and show how amazing this sport can be!"

She also added a message for all the athletes who weren't able to qualify for the Paris Olympics.

"Everyone who knows sport is aware that it takes a village getting there and all athletes can be so proud of themselves for making the team! And to those athletes who didn‘t make it to Paris this year, never stop believing in yourself. It‘s a bumpy road and one day all your hard work will eventually pay off!"

Alica Schmidt also shared her experience of scuba-diving in one of her recent Instagram stories, explaining the ambiance under the water.
