American track and field Olympic champions, Masai Russell and Quincy Wilson, recently attended a Rod Wave concert. Both athletes competed in their maiden Olympic Games this year and secured gold medals in their respective events.
After wrapping up their professional commitments for the 2024 season, Russell and Wilson are making the most of their downtime. As part of their offseason, the long jumper and the hurdler attended Rod Wave's concert where they were seen vibing with their friends to his song "Turks & Caicos."
For their outing, Russell opted for a chic black jacket layered over a green dress, while Wilson kept it casual yet stylish in a black jacket with a shearling collar, paired with casual gray pants.
Sharing the pictures on her Instagram stories, Russell wrote:
"Thanks to @rsluxury_rentals for a luxury ride to the rod wave concert."
Both Russell and Wilson made a splash during their debut at the Paris Olympics in August, where the former won a gold medal in the women's 100m hurdles with an impressive time of 12.33 seconds to defeat the home favorite, Cyréna Samba-Mayela, and Puerto Rico's defending champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn. In contrast, the 16-year-old Wilson became the youngest track and field Olympic champion after receiving a gold medal as part of the American 4x400m relay team.
"You show yourself what you're capable of" - Masai Russell on building her legacy one day at a time
In a recent conversation with Athlos, Masai Russell mentioned that she sets goals and works hard to achieve them every day, which reinforces her sense of capability. She also reflected on how it presents a daily challenge for her.
"I think my why is taking it how far Masai can take it. Set these goals and you put them out there and when you just attain them, you show yourself what you're capable of. It's just a challenge every day. My mom has always told me, 'What will be your legacy?' I think I'm in the process of building that," she said (as quoted by Pulse Sports Kenya).
"Winning an Olympic gold as a rookie. I just want to continue to make that happen year in and year out and do it with a smile on my face and bringing people along while I'm doing it."
In April 2024, Masai Russell secured a sponsorship deal with the sports apparel giant Nike to help grow her personal brand.
