Ryan Murphy had a brilliant run at the Paris Olympics, where he added three more medals to his already impressive Olympic collection from Rio 2016 (3 golds) and the Tokyo 2020 (1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze). This included the gold in the 4x100m mixed medley, silver in the 4x100m medley, and bronze in the individual men’s 100m backstroke event.

In Paris, the American star swimmer collected his first medal in the 100m backstroke by recording a time of 52.39s in the finals. In the finals, he finished third behind Italy’s Thomas Ceccon and China’s Xu Jiayu, who clocked times of 52.00s and 52.32s respectively.
After his impressive bronze medal finish, Ryan Murphy received a special surprise from his wife, Bridget, who was in attendance to witness the event at the Olympic Aquatics Centre. At the venue, Bridget held a placard revealing the gender of their child, which read, “Ryan, it’s a Girl!,” an idea which was suggested by her sister.
She later took to her Instagram account to share this ‘viral’ moment, stating:
“Of all the medals you’ve won in your career, this one is by far the most special. Our biggest dream come true."
