Rebeca Andrade opens up about the Paris Olympics all-around event being the last of her career
Rebeca Andrade shed light on her retirement from the all-around apparatus during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In an interview after her all-around performance in Paris, Andrade stated that all-around performances take an immense toll on the entire body, especially the lower body. She further added that she wanted to give complete effort on this performance at the French capital because she considers this as her last all-around event. She said (via Olympics.com):
"Doing the all-around, to me, it demands a lot from my body, my lower limbs, legs, knees. But I said that the future belongs to God: What if I something comes up in my head [or] my body gets better? I don’t know. But I have worked this in my head and I wanted tonight to be a very special competition because, to me, that was my last all-around."
Rebeca Andrade has been quite successful in the all-around event across her career. She has won two Olympic silver medals in the apparatus during the delayed 2020 and 2024 Olympics.
Moreover, she also has a gold and silver all-around World Championships medal that she bagged in 2022 Liverpool and 2023 Antwerp respectively.
