Sha'Carri Richardson starred in the August issue of Vogue Magazine, a monumental accomplishment ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics. She shared glimpses of her shoot, which also featured some of her family members hyping her up.
Richardson, 24, earned a qualification in the 100m at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, having run the length in 10.86s. However, her positive drug test result struck her out of the final Tokyo Olympic roster. Fast forward to now, the gritty athlete made a mark as the reigning 100m world champion and won the 100m dash at the 2024 US Olympic Trials as well.
Her effort at the Trials earned a qualification in the 100m and 4x100m relay for the Paris Olympics. Before she could unfurl her prowess again, the 24-year-old made it to the coveted Vogue cover photo. Some of her family members also accompanied her in the shoot as her major support system.
She posted a series of photos and short clips from her Vogue shoot on Instagram and talked about the importance of family in her life.
"To know me is to know that family is everything! I am so grateful to get to share moments like this with my family...."
In the first picture, the 100m world champion posed in the USA-themed Paris Olympic uniform and her family donned a combination of beige and white. The next video featured them swaying and vibing amid the shoot. The following video had Richardson walking the track in a white bodycon.
She flaunted her bedazzled nails in the next and took flight in a yellow flowy dress in the last photo of the series.
Sha'Carri Richardson: "It’s like chess, every move you make leads to checkmate"
Sha'Carri Richardson missed the Tokyo finals but regained her position as the reigning star at the 2024 Olympic Trials. She ran the 100m dash in 10.71s, not only finishing on top but also setting the world lead. According to her, she has been in 'trial and error' but Paris will be her shining 'checkmate' moment.
Richardson will be in Paris to vie for two golds in the 100m and 4x100m relay. The Olympic gates will open from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
"It’s like chess. Every move you make leads to checkmate. So the Olympics, okay, that’s checkmate, that’s the moment an athlete dreams about. But every race I have leading up to that matters too—that’s my opportunity to grow, so by the time I’m on the track in Paris, I know I’ve done my trial and error," she said. (via Vogue)
