Sha'Carri Richardson has been training hard ahead of her 200m race at the Shanghai Diamond League 2024 as the world champion got pictured in a stunning black outfit on Suzhou tracks.

Richardson was set to open her outdoor season at the Miramar Invitational 2024 but she withdrew from the competition days before the event was scheduled to kickstart. The 24-year-old eventually featured in her first race of the season at the Xiamen Diamond League last week and lost to Australia’s Torrie Lewis in the opening round of the Diamond League in Xiamen.

Speaking in a post-race interview later, the reigning 100m world champion claimed that she was a ‘Little nervous’ opening her season but felt good after the 22.99s performance. Richardson will next take the field on 27 April at Shanghai Stadium to secure her first victory of the season and accordingly has been training hard for it.

The official Instagram team of the Shanghai Diamond League recently took to Instagram to share glimpses of Sha'Carri Richardson’s training for the event. In a series of pictures posted on the account, the 23-year-old looked stunning in a black outfit.

Richardson’s outfit was from Nike, with whom she has reportedly signed a $20m contract. Shanghai Diamond League also posted a small clip of the world champion starting off her blocks in quick time. The 23-year-old is a favorite heading into Saturday’s event with only fellow American Tamara Clark as a close-about competitor.

Speaking to People Magazine in an interview earlier this month, Sha'Carri Richardson explained why she lives by the mentality, ‘I'm not back, I'm better'.The 100m world champion claimed that she had bounced back from things very few people could do.

"I've been in the world in a way that not necessarily is the way a lot of people could handle or really bounce back or survive. And the fact that I'm able to stand here and be the athlete I've been, I've been the woman I've been," she said.

The American also recalled the time her drive for greatness started off, and it was the Rio Olympics 2016.

"The Rio Olympics was really that moment where I was watching, I was like, 'Okay, this is something that I can actually do for myself. I just knew that I was blessed in a way to be great, so when I decided to just hone in on track, it just took off", she expressed.

Sha'Carri Richardson will aim for her second Diamond League victory when she competes in Shanghai, with her first coming in Doha last year, when she won the 100m event after clocking 10.76 seconds.
