Shaun White opens up about his thought process before launching his new Snow League
Shaun white expressed his thoughts before forming his new Snow League that is set to begin this year.
In an interview, White revealed that the discipline of snowboarding is quite fragmented and there is no common thread between the existing tournaments that take place. He also mentioned that this is a shame for the athletes who want to compete in the best events. He said (via Sports Illustrated):
"I competed in this sport my entire life and I just saw that there was a miss. There’s not a common thread that connects all the events throughout the season, and it's such a shame because as an athlete, you're trying to decide what's best. Sponsors that you have might want you to go to this event, but that event doesn't get you points that lead you toward the Olympics, but you go to those events to get the points."
White also highlighted during the conversation that his Snow League is going to primarily focus on the athletes and that he will try to bring the best snowboarders and broadcasters to the franchise. Moreover, he is also aiming to help these athletes in a way that they don't need to indulge in any other outside jobs.
