Simone Biles and her fellow Gold Over America tour gymnasts posed with the Larry O'Brien trophy when they stopped at Boston for their performances. Biles, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, Fred Richard, and others stepped on the tour after their medal-winning feats at the Paris Olympics.
The US women's gymnastics team clinched the coveted gold at the 2024 Games, having missed the top spot in Tokyo 2021 after Biles withdrew midway due to 'twisties'. The US men's gymnastics team also made history in Paris by winning the bronze, the first team medal since the 2008 Summer Olympics.
After the US gymnasts brought home two team medals and a couple of individual wins, they (except Suni Lee) set sail on the Gold Over America tour. The Simone Biles-headlined event already completed 15 successful stops, the latest at CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore.
On 6 October, the tour stop in Boston was particularly special since the gymnasts had an opportunity to visit the home NBA team, the Boston Celtics' arena, and share the frame with the Larry O'Brien trophy after their show. The Celtics had lifted the trophy after winning the 2023-24 NBA Finals in June 2024.
"Jordan Chiles, Simone Biles, and the @goldoveramericatour crew linked up with the Larry O’Brien trophy," the caption of Celtics' Instagram post read.
The picture carousel featured the Olympians posing in electric blue attires while Fred Richard stood with the golden laurel in the middle. The following three slides had Chiles, Richard, and Ian Gunther in Celtics' jerseys, smiling wide with the Larry O'Brien trophy.
On 9 October, Biles and her WCC teammate Jordan Chiles posed in the Boston Bruins and Celtics jerseys, as posted by the former on her Instagram story.
The GOAT squad will next perform at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Simone Biles defeated the male gymnasts by acing the 1.5 trick during tour rehearsals
During the GOAT rehearsals, the 11-time Olympic medalist attempted a standing 1.5, encompassing a take-off and one-and-a-half twists in the air, alongside her fellow tour mates, Yul Moldauer, Joscelyn Roberson, and Brody Malone.
Everyone except Biles failed to ace the maneuver, as seen in Gunther's Instagram post.
"Is anyone surprised Simone is the only one who made it?"
The Gold Over America tour will take the Amerant Bank Arena stage in Sunrise, Florida on 11 October, and then grace the Kia Center in Orlando.
