Fresh off of her Olympic triumph at the French capital, Olympic champion Simone Biles celebrated her father's birthday, who recently turned 75 years old. The American gymnast shared glimpses of the celebrations of her adoptive father, Ronald Biles on her social media handle.
Ronald Biles is Simone Biles' biological grandfather and had adopted Simone Biles and her younger sister, Adria when he learned that they were given up to foster care by her biological mother, Shannon Biles. The Olympic gymnast was only six years old when Ronald Biles and his partner, Nellie Biles, formally adopted Simone and her sister Adria.
Simone Biles took to Instagram to share a series of Instagram stories, where they were seen celebrating Ronald's birthday. In the first story, Simone Biles shared the photo of her adoptive father, with the caption:
"My dad is the cutest, happy 75th"
In one of the stories, the American gymnast was seen having a drink with Ronald Biles. Another story showed an adorable moment between Ron Biles and Nellie Biles, who were spotted dancing with each other. Simone Biles captioned it:
"47 years strong [Emotional Emojis]. My parents are so cute."
In an interview with "TODAY" on August 20, just before the Paris Olympics were about to end, Simone Biles talked about how special her parents felt as they watched her perform at the French capital:
"They missed Tokyo, so this was like a cherry on top for them. Paris is such a beautiful city, and seeing all the girls compete - and almost the same exact girls as in Tokyo - so they were just, like, ecstatic."
When asked about whom she would credit her success, Simone promptly replied,
"If not for my parents and adoption, I wouldn't be here today," she said.
Simone Biles on her adoptive parents' role in her success
In an Instagram post shared in 2021, Simone Biles credited her adoptive parents for her success as a world champion gymnast. A couple of months before the Tokyo Olympics, the 27-year-old penned a heartfelt note via her social media handle and thanked her adoptive parents for their consistent support throughout her career. Simone Biles wrote,
"Appreciation post for my sweet parents [Love Emoji]. Thanks for making sacrifices since day 1 so that I can live my dream, but most importantly thanks for being there me through all the highs and the lows. You guys are the absolute best. Love y'all."
In March 2024, before the Olympic trials, Simone Biles talked about the role her parents played, claiming that their presence in the audience would compel her to perform much better.
Simone Biles had a brilliant campaign at the 2024 Paris Olympics. With three gold medals and one silver medal, Biles is now the most decorated female gymnast in the USA, and the joint second most decorated female gymnast in the history of Summer Olympics alongside Vera Caslavska from Czechoslovakia, with both gymnasts having won 11 Olympic medals each.
