Suni Lee opened up about the struggles she faced while training for the Paris Olympics
In a conversation with Glamour.com, Suni Lee revealed the struggles she faced during the training sessions of the Paris Olympics. After getting diagnosed with a rare kidney issue in 2023, Lee took a hiatus from gymnastics to prepare herself for competing at the 2024 Summer Games. The 21-year-old revealed that after getting back to practice, the hardest part of her journey was to go to the gym with a swollen face and body. Her coaches had a bucket ready for her because she felt nauseous most of the time from the medicines.
"Bars, floor, and vault were really hard for me because I couldn’t even walk up a flight of stairs. My coaches would have buckets ready to go for when I needed to throw up because my medicine made me so nauseous."
She added:
"I had to get over the fact that I was never going to be the same gymnast anymore. My coach would be like, ‘No, you’re this Suni, and you’re a better Suni.'"
Suni Lee was also recently named as one of the Glamour's Women of the Year.
