Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has reached Paris just a day before the 2024 Summer Olympics. She qualified for her favorite event, the 400m hurdles, and is now looking forward to accomplishing her pursuit of defending her Olympic title in 2024.
The American hurdler is competing in the Olympics for the third time. She made her debut at the 2016 Games, at the age of 17 and competed in the 400m. Following this, five years later, McLaughlin-Levrone clinched two golds in the 400m hurdles event and the 4x400m relay games at the 2020 Tokyo Games. The 400m hurdles world record holder is now amped up to gracefully defend her title at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Team USA recently shared pictures of the 24-year-old athlete's arrival at the Olympic venue with her husband, Andre Levrone. The couple struck poses, and Laughlin-Levrone marked her arrival in a blue-colored Team USA uniform with a white shirt tied around her waist. Alongside her was her husband, who donned a white-colored Team USA t-shirt paired with black shorts. The post's caption read:
"2x Olympic champion and world record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has arrived 🙌"
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone received appreciation from 400m hurdles rival Femke Bol
One of the competitions Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone can face in the 400m hurdles is Femke Bol. Her recent personal best in the event is 50.95s and she became the second woman to reach these numbers after McLaughlin-Levrone. However, Bol recently opened up about her admiration for the American world record holder before her race at the London meeting of the IAAF Diamond League.
Bol unveiled that she has a lot of respect for the world record holder and is looking forward to meeting her in Paris.
"We're friendly, and we're with the same sponsor," said Bol. We both realize that the 400 m hurdles is not an easy event, and I have a lot of respect for her. I know how committed and hard working she is. We don't see each other a lot, but we'll see each other in Paris.
The Dutch athlete also opined on how the 24-year-old hurdler helped motivate her to do better:
"It's really inspirational and motivational how she is racing, and seeing how much she is raising the bar, because the moment you see someone do it, even though she is a really exceptional athlete, there is something you're headed to think, 'Maybe, I can also do it!' "
Both the hurdlers, Sydney Mclaughlin-Levrone and Femke Bol, will be seen in a terrific 400m hurdles showdown at the 2024 Paris Olympics, whose round 1 is scheduled for August 4, the semi-finals for August 6, and the finals for August 9.
