In Pictures: Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone shares 2024 season recap after bagging top honor at World Athletics Awards

American track athlete Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone shared a recap from her 2024 season via her social media on Monday. December 2. This comes just a few hours after the 25-year-old clinched the "Female Track Athlete of the Year" award at the 2024 World Athletics Awards owing to her impressive performances across the year.

In 2024, McLaughlin-Levrone maintained an unbeaten record in the individual races including the Paris Olympics, USATF events, US Olympic trials, etc. Her only defeat came at the Mt. Sac Relays where she and her team finished second in the 4x100m relays event.

On Monday, December 2, Mclaughlin-Levrone took to her Instagram stories to share glimpses of these track meets where she competed. Her posts include photos from her first event of the season in April, Mt. Sac Relays. She also shared the after moments of the 2024 US Olympics Trials where she broke the 400m hurdles world record and the 2024 Summer Olympics where she won a gold medal.

McLaughlin-Levrone concluded her recap session on Instagram with an image of her at her last event of 2024, the Wanda Diamond League finals in Brussels. She added a text in this picture, writing:

"Until next year"

Michael Johnson reacts to Sydney Mclaughlin-Levrone receiving World Athletics' Female Track Athlete of the Year award

American track and field legend Michael Johnson reacted to Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone receiving the 2024 Female Track Athlete of the Year award. The 27-year-old hurdler defeated Saint Lucian athlete Julien Alfred to bag this major award on Sunday (Nov 2).

Johnson took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to laud the achievements of the 400m hurdler this season including breaking world records winning Olympic gold medals, etc. He wrote:

"World record, gold medals, and absolute dominance. Winning combination!"

The former four-time Olympic gold medalist had high praises for Sydney McLaughline-Levrone in the past. He also signed the New Jersey native for his Grand Slam Track, which is set to begin next season. McLaughlin-Levrone is signed as a racer meaning she will feature in all the meets of the league next year.
