Mikaela Shiffrin is one of the best skiers to have ever graced the slopes, and she recently gave fans a look into the work it takes to get to the top of her sport. The American shared a video of her skiing on ‘injection’, leaving viewers amazed.

Statistically speaking, Shiffrin is the most successful skier of all time, having won 97 World Cup Races. She has also claimed 14 World Championships medals over the course of her career, seven of which are gold.

As she aims to return to the slopes for another record-breaking season, the 29-year-old shared a glimpse into her training. In a video she posted on Instagram, Mikaela Shiffrin explained,

“In skiing, we like to inject water with fire hoses into snow to make it harder. It's more fair for the entire competition, but it can be a little bit intense. And the injection last night turned out very hard. So I was thinking I'd show you what it sounds like to ski on injection, here we go.”

She captioned the video,

“Mic's up my feet so you can hear what it sounds like to ski on ‘injection’. That was our first day training on very hard/icy injection for this season - suffice it to say, my skeleton is in shock today.”

For Mikaela Shiffrin, her 2024 season saw some major ups and downs after an injury in a high-speed crash in January at Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy.

The skier was sidelined for six weeks, dealing with a left leg injury, ligament sprains, and a bone bruise. However, she returned to the slopes in March, clinching a record-tying eighth World Cup slalom title in Are, Sweden upon her return.

Now, Shiffrin is excited for the 2025 season to begin, as she shared pictures of herself and the US Ski team training in Chile with the caption,

“Weeeeee, less than 1 month till Soelden.”

The American had previously expressed her enthusiasm for the season opener in an interview with Olympics.com, stating that her preparation for the race was going well.

“The preparation is going well. I’m feeling good, I feel healthy, I feel strong. I’m really excited to get on snow and enter the final stages of prep before we start racing again. So yeah, I’m in a good place right now.”

The race in Soelden, Austria is scheduled for October 26 and will mark the beginning of Mikaela Shiffrin’s 15th World Cup alpine campaign.
