Leanne Wong is one of the promising athletes making waves in the gymnastics arena. The Florida Gators gymnast showed her brilliance at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials, placing seventh in the competition with an overall 110.425 points.

She collected 28.950 on vault, 27.825 on uneven bars, 26.875 on balance beam, and 26.775 on floor exercise at the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics trials at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Her 28.950 points in the vault fetched her a third-place in the event.

Following her impressive performance at the trials, Leanne Wong was named in the USA women’s gymnastics squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics as a traveling replacement athlete for the team.

Besides Wong, Joscelyn Roberson was announced as the other traveling replacement athlete courtesy of her sixth-place finish at the trials. Both Wong and Roberson will join the likes of Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera in the gymnastics team for the quadrennial games.

Leanne Wong opened her 2024 elite season by participating at the 2024 Core Hydration Classic or U.S. Classic where she came seventh in the women’s all-around. She then featured at the 2024 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships where she finished eighth in the all-around.

Despite being just 20, Wong has already achieved success at the international level, earning four medals at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. This includes gold in the team event in 2022 and 2023, silver in the all-around in 2021, and bronze in the floor exercise in 2021.

At the Pan American Games, she was a crucial member of the women’s team and won a silver medal in the uneven bars in 2019. On the national level, Wong clinched the bronze medal in the all-around at the 2023 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships.

A look at Leanne Wong’s collegiate career

Competing for the Florida Gators, Leanne Wong captured the NCAA championship title in the uneven bars in 2024 to conclude her junior season. Additionally, she secured second place in the all-around and vault events in 2024.

She was also a member of the Florida Gators team that finished as the runner-up in 2023 and 2022 and came second in the floor exercise in 2023 at the NCAA Championships.

In November 2020, Wong committed to join the Florida Gators and officially signed her National Letter of Intent for the 2021-22 school year.
