Simone Biles has questioned whether the prospect of giving up time with her family for a shot at the 2028 LA Olympics is worth it, hinting that she might retire before the Games. The gymnast competed in her third Olympic Games at the Paris Olympics last year, winning four medals.

Biles was named Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year for her incredible Olympic comeback in 2024 after having withdrawn from the Tokyo Olympics. In an interview with the magazine, the eleven-time Olympic medalist said she had nothing left to win in the sport now.

“Life and death. Because I’ve accomplished so much, there’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done," she replied when asked what competing at the LA 2028 Olympics would mean for her.

After winning an astonishing five medals on her Olympic debut at the 2016 Olympics, Biles planned to stamp her greatness at the Tokyo Games and retire afterward. However, everything went haywire for the gymnast in the Japanese capital, as she won just one bronze and one silver medal, prompting her to make a comeback at the Paris Olympics.

Biles made history in Paris, winning four medals while becoming the oldest gymnast in 75 years to win the all-around title. She is now the most decorated gymnast in history and isn't sure whether sacrificing her time for family is worth competing at the 2028 Olympics.

“If you go back, you’ll be greedy. Those are the consequences. But that’s also your decision to decide. What sacrifices would be made if I go back now? When you’re younger, it’s like, prom, college. Now it’s like, starting a family, being away from my husband. What’s really worth it?" Simone Biles added.

As she ponders over the question, the 27-year-old is enjoying her new life in Chicago with her husband Jonathan Owens, and has plans to take a long vacation in the next few weeks.

In an interview with Olympics.com ahead of Christmas, Simone Biles revealed that she and her husband Jonathan Owens hadn't planned anything special for the occasion, with plans of going on vacations in 2025.

"Nothing crazy. We're going on vacations next year, so we kind of didn't even do a Christmas this year. Honestly, just relaxing," she said.

Owens' Chicago Bears have failed to qualify for the NFL Playoffs, suffering their 10th straight loss last week. They will now play in the regular season finale on January 5 against his former team, the Green Bay Packers. The couple will likely take time off for vacation after the regular season is over.
