Tara Davis-Woodhall recently reflected on competing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics which was marked by COVID-19 protocols. Woodhall made her debut appearance at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Unlike other editions of the most prestigious sporting event, the 2020 edition was subject to multiple restrictions and adjustments, after being postponed by a year. The events were held without spectators and the athletes were required to follow strict health measures, including regular testing, quarantine procedures, and limited interaction with others.
Speaking on an episode of Beyond The Records Podcast shared on January 2, 2025, Davis Woodhall reflected on the 2020 Games and expressed her disappointment over the restrictive measures preventing her family from witnessing her compete.
"Tokyo was so trash. Like so bad. Anything that like had to do with my family and friends in Paris at the Olympics, to watch us, that was like the best moments ever. Because it's like they have worked so hard for all of us to get to this moment in time it's like only thing I can do is just like spend time with you guys. It was a different feeling this time," she said. (46:50 onwards)
After securing second place in the Trials, Tara Davis-Woodhall earned a spot to compete at the 2020 Games. In Tokyo, she finished sixth place in the women's long jump event after covering a distance of 6.84m.

Talking about how they met, Tara said that after crossing paths with him at the meet, she felt compelled to hug Hunter, which prompted the two to frequently talk to each other.
"We were at a track meet at high school and he was running and it was his birthday and the announcer was like Hunter Woodhall, it's his birthday," Tara Davis-Woodhall said. "Happy 18th Birthday and like kept on saying, I'm like 'Who the hell is Hunter?' At some point he was walking to me and I was walking towards like 'I don't know why I have to do this but I have to hug you.' Ever since then like we have not stopped talking."
The duo met at a track meet in Idaho during their senior year of high school. After getting engaged in 2021, the couple exchanged their vows on October 16, 2022 in McKinney, Texas.
