Stephen Nedoroscik and his dance partner Rylee Arnold shared their emotions ahead of their final appearance on the 33rd season of Dancing With The Stars. The pair will take to the stage during the season finale on Tuesday, November 26.
Nedoroscik shot to overnight fame at the 2024 Paris Olympics after leading the USA men's gymnastics team to a historic bronze medal, the first for the team since the 2008 Beijing Olympics. While the gymnast went on to win another bronze medal in the pommel horse finals, he was offered the role in DWTS right after the team finals.
The 26-year-old was paired with professional ballroom dancer Rylee Arnold, and the pair combined perfectly to reach the finale this season. However, they are experiencing 'bittersweet' emotions ahead of the finale on Tuesday.
"Our last camera vlogging, it's so bittersweet, it went so well though. Unreal," the two-time Olympic medalist said.
Arnold also expressed similar feelings and shared her excitement for the finale, saying:
"I'm gonna cry again, everything went so well. We are so excited for tomorrow, can't believe it's the finale, so wild."
The pair teased a performance with 'I'll Be There For You,' the theme song of the NBC sitcom FRIENDS, in the finale as Nedoroscik looks to become only the third gymnast to win the Mirror Ball trophy.
Rylee Arnold helped Stephen Nedoroscik overcome his 'dancing' insecurities
While Stephen Nedoroscik is arguably one of the best pommel horse specialists in the world, he said he had insecurities about dancing before Dancing With The Stars and Rylee Arnold came to his help. Speaking in The Lightweight podcast, the 26-year-old said:
"I think, like typically anyone who has an insecurity, they kind of just avoid a certain, you know, subject or topic, whatever. Like I didn't really want to dance ever. So I was just like, you know what, I suck at this. I'm never going to do it. And then like I got the call for Dancing with the Stars. And I was like, this is too good of an opportunity to turn down. And I'm so lucky because I got Rylee paired with me and we have like very similar energy."
Nedoroscik added that while he was embarrassed over not being able to pick the dance moves at first, he decided to give his all and now they are in the finale.
"So, Immediately I was like a little embarrassed because I wasn't picking up on the steps very fast. But like she saw like how motivated I was. And Iike I was like if I'm doing this like I'm going all out," Stephen Nedoroscik added.
Nedoroscik humorously added that Arnold still had to act like a 'Sergeant' at times to perfect the gymnast's dancing skills.
