A never-seen-before chapter of the rivalry between Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen recently unfolded as a documentary featuring the latter hit the OTT platform Amazon Prime a few days ago.

"Ingebrigtsen: Born to Run" was released on September 20 and it revolves around both the personal life and track and field career of the Norwegian athlete. Besides this, the documentary also features bits of Ingebrigtsen's bitter relationship with his British counterpart Josh Kerr.

In the fourth episode of the documentary, called "A matter of millseconds," Ingebrigtsen's bitter spat with Kerr before his season opener at the 2024 Prefontaine Classic can be seen.

In the episode, the 24-year-old Norwegian runner stated that Kerr was the one who started this rivalry between the two and it was not a media-created fight. Besides, Ingebrigtsen also mentioned that Kerr has never encountered him face-to-face on this note. He stated (via Amazon Prime docuseries):

"What's funny is that he's (Josh Kerr) never said anything to me. So, if you smile and say hello politely and then you go to your friend's podcast and trash-talk that's really cowardly."

Ingebrigtsen added:

"The problem with the rivalry is that it's not created by the media. It's only created by that moron because he began trash-talking me. But he's forgotten that he doesn't stand for anything he says. That says a lot about someone."

Competing at the 2024 Prefontaine Classic, the first Diamond League event of the season for both athletes, Josh Kerr ultimately had the better of Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the Bowerman Mile event by a bare margin of 0.26 seconds. The Brit clinched the top spot on the podium after clocking a run-time of 3:45.34 while Ingebrigtsen managed a second-place finish in 3:45.60.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen ended his 2024 track and field campaign with an impressive record at the Diamond League events. The Norwegian athlete bagged five Diamond League victories this past season in Oslo, Monaco, Lausanne, Silesia, and Brussels.

His most memorable outing came at the Silesia leg of the Diamond League where he clocked a run-time of 7:17.55 and registered the world record over 3000m.

Besides his top-podium finishes, Jakob Ingebrigtsen also managed two second-place finishes in Eugene and Zurich. However, in the Zurich leg, the 24-year-old did manage to hold off his arch-rival Josh Kerr, who eventually finished in fifth place.
