Simone Biles extended her support to French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati, who became an overnight sensation for his pole vault crotch mishap at the Paris Olympics. Ammirati's knees touched the pole, and as a result, he failed to advance to the pole vault finals in Paris.
Biles extended her gold medal tally to seven, clinching three wins in the team, all-around and vault, and second position in the floor exercise. Her effort surpassed former American gymnast Shannon Biles and earned her the title of the most decorated gymnast in history. As the Games concluded, the 27-year-old set off on the Gold Over America tour, which stopped at Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati Ohio on November 2, 2024.
With only one GOAT stop left, Biles and the Olympians will take the stage at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit Michigan on November 3, to conclude the second edition of the tour. Ahead of the final set of performances, the 11-time Olympic medalist sat with Netflix to react to the viral Paris Olympic moment when French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati's private part-related fiasco ended his Olympic dream.
Simone Biles extended support to the 21-year-old, saying it was not his fault and congratulating him on his Olympic qualification.
"Gosh. The French pole vaulter, Sir, it was not your fault. That pole shouldn't have been there but we're so so proud of you. You made it to the Olympics, congratulations." (0.00)
Ammirati fell after the awkward moment during his third attempt while trying to reach the 5.40m mark but faded to 12th in the qualification round.
Simone Biles reacted to her viral moment when she stared down a camera while gearing up for an event in Paris
Simone Biles was sitting and stretching on the gymnastics mat while talking to someone when she dramatically turned her head sideways and caught the camera filming her. Her cold stare and the power of her sixth sense set the internet ablaze amid the Games.
In a conversation with Netflix, she reacted to the viral moment of her staring down a camera, saying:
"I'm not really sure why this went viral but people loved it. I truly have no idea because there were no cameras anywhere but the guys were across from our warmup gym, so I truly think they must have been going ballistic and that's the reason why I turned. that's it. I have no explanation. I have no idea what that was and why I did it." (0.25)
The second part of Biles' eponymous docuseries, Simone Biles Rising hit the Netflix platform on October 25, 2024. It offered a glimpse of her journey from the US Olympic trials to multiple podiums in Paris.
