Kishane Thompson stunned his fans after a brilliant performance in the 100m finals of the Jamaican Olympic trials. He qualified for the Paris Olympics after posting a world lead on Day 2 of the trials.
After surpassing Noah Lyles' PB on Day 1 of the trials, Thompson has yet again set a new PB for himself in the 100m finals and is now the fourth fastest Jamaican in history behind Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, and Asafa Powell. He opened his 2024 season at the Jamaican Championships after battling injuries that forced him to withdraw from the World Championships in Budapest. There, he clocked a time of 9.82s in the 100m finals.
He has bounced back even stronger in the Jamaican trials and recorded the world's fastest time in the 100m this year. He booked his berth in the Paris Olympics after clocking an electrifying 9.77s in the 100m finals of the trials. He trounced Oblique Seville, who stood in second place with a time of 9.82s, and Ackeem Blake, who claimed the third position after recording 9.92s.

Kishane Thompson opens up about his 100m win at the Jamaican Olympic trials
Kishane Thompson has made a notable comeback in the Jamaican Trials with his 100m wins. After producing a new PB and recording a world lead in the finals of the event, Thompson opened up about his feat and talked about what his coach said in the buildup to the event (as quoted by BBC):
"My coach instructed me just tor run the first 60m, nothing more, after that shut it down," Kishane Thompson said.
He further added that the plan was to execute his coach's lessons and assess his (Thompson's) form.
"If I came second or third, I would've made the team. The goal wasn't to prove anything tonight, just run the 70 or 60m and see where I was."
Noah Lyles also commented on Thompson's 100m's round 1 win of 9.82s, which he clocked on Day 1 of the trials. The American sprinter, in a post-race interview with Citius Magazine, said:
"Alright nice, let's hope he stays healthy."
