American gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik's dance partner, Ryler Arnold, recently opened up about the adversities she faces due to diabetes. The dance couple is currently performing on the 33rd season of the reality show 'Dancing With The Stars.'
The gymnast opted for the dance show after his historic performance at the Paris Olympics, where he won two bronze medals. He won the first one in the team event, where he earned the highest score of 14.866 points and helped Team USA win their first medal for men's gymnastics in 16 years. The second bronze medal came in the pommel horse event.
Following this, Stephen Nedoroscik was offered participation in the DWTS, where he was paired with his dance partner, Rylee Arnold. She recently opened up about the struggles she faced due to diabetes and how this health affects her dancing too in a podcast, 'Scrubbing In With Becca Tilley & Tana Rad. She revealed that she has to take care of her blood sugar level every time; otherwise, it would affect her health poorly.
"It takes over my life. Like it is something that is always on my mind. Basically, I have to be super aware of my blood sugar at all times. Any time I eat food that has carbs in it, I have to get myself a shot of insulin," said Rylee Arnold. (20:02 onwards)
"Yes, any time I eat food. So, I have to like take seven minimum shots every single day. I have to always be aware because if my blood sugar level is too low, I could literally die, and so I have to be really aware that I keep my blood sugar stable because if my blood sugar is too high, I will feel super yucky, just like not good, and then later on in life, that can affect me really poorly if I let my blood sugar get high."
She added:
"It is something that I really have to take responsibility for, and it is so important to, you know, take care of yourself with Type 1, because it's just hard, and you know it's hard with dancing too. It's like I dance so much, I am always at the studio, and I am so invested; the last thing I want to think about is my blood sugar and whether or not I can eat this pizza bread without any, you know, just stuff like that."
Rylee Arnold opened up about her bond with Stephen Nedoroscik
In a recent conversation with Access Hollywood, Rylee Arnold spoke about her bond with Stephen Nedoroscik. She called themselves best friends and showcased gratitude for all the advice the gymnast had given her.
"I would just say we are like just best friends. Like we constantly poke fun at each other, and I'm so grateful for Stephen and everything he has given me, he's given me so much advice in life." [1:16 onwards]
Arnold also called Nedoroscik an inspiration for her:
"He's been a huge inspiration to everything that I do and like truly going into the studio with him and having his positive attitude around, builds me up as a person and makes me a better person. So I'm just so grateful to have him as my partner."
Stephen Nedoroscik's 19-year-old choreographer revealed that she was diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes at 16 years of age.
