Jade Carey recently expressed gratitude for the record turnout at the Oregon Beavers' 2025 first gymnastics meet at Gill Coliseum. Carey, who resumed her collegiate career after the Paris Olympics, helped the Beavers score 196.40 to trounce Brigham Young.
Carey, the US gymnast who has been competing since 2016, officially signed with the University of Oregon in 2017 to start classes in 2018-19. However, she deferred competing at the NCAA level until after the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Having debuted with the Beavers in 2022, Carey won five podiums at the NCAA Championships, four silvers, and a bronze.
Following her success at the 2024 Paris Games, the 24-year-old resumes her tenure with her alma mater, opening the 2025 season with the Pacific Coast Challenge. The tri-meet between UCLA, California, and the Beavers finished with Carey clinching the all-around crown, taking the all-around and balance beam titles, and co-winning the floor exercise.
She then performed in a home meet at Gill Coliseum, helping her college team win. Later, in an Instagram post, she left a note of gratitude for a record number of people who turned up to watch the performances.
"Beaver nation showing up. We love you guys !!"
Carey scored 39.725 in all-around, 9.925 on beam, 9.90 on vault, and 9.95 on uneven bars and floor, respectively.
Recently, as the Beavers Athletics released the schedule of the 2024-25 NCAA season, the two-time Olympic gold medalist took to her Instagram story to express excitement, writing:
"Get to Gill"
Notably, Carey helped the US women's gymnastics team win the gold at the Paris Olympics. She also finished in the individual bronze podium on the vault.
Jade Carey once shared that she wanted to impact and empower women athletes with her work
A part of the US team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Carey stepped up to help her team to the silver podium when front runner Simone Biles withdrew due to 'twisties'. She also won the floor gold in that Olympic edition. After that, she participated in the Gold Over America tour.
Balancing elite and NCAA gymnastics, Carey once revealed she would like to be associated with sports in any way, empowering women athletes.
"I feel like gymnastics—not in a bad way, but it’s my whole entire life. For a career, I want to be involved in sports or gymnastics in some sort of way. I’m not exactly sure how yet. A big passion of mine is giving back and making an impact and empowering women athletes." (via Elle.com)
Jade Carey has amassed seven World medals, three golds, three silvers, and a bronze. Her resume also includes three Pan American Championships titles.
