Gold Over America Tour gymnasts, including Jade Carey, Hezly Rivera, Peng Peng Lee, and others were left starstruck as they met the retired tennis icon Serena Williams. They were also accompanied by their fellow participants, including Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles, among others.
Carey, along with Rivera, Chiles, and Biles, are currently part of the Gold Over America Tour following a successful run at the Paris Olympics, where they contributed to the USA's all-around gold victory. Carey also secured the first individual Olympic medal of her career after placing third in the vault apparatus with a score of 14.466.
During their recent Gold Over America Tour stop in Orlando, Florida, Jade Carey, Simone Biles, and others had the opportunity to meet Serena Williams. The 39-time major winner was also joined by her husband, Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, as they posed for a picture with the gymnasts from the tour.
Sharing the picture on her Instagram story, Carey wrote:
"a legend @serenawilliams"
While Rivera captioned:
"so cool meeting @serenawilliams today!!!"
The retired Canadian professional gymnast and now a gymnastics content creator, Peng Peng Lee, was also among the athletes who met Williams.
"Met an absolute legend!!!! And she was so sweet @serenawilliams," Lee captioned her meeting with the star.
"I am loving every minute of watching you" - When Serena Williams cheered for Jade Carey and team United States at the Paris Olympics
In August, during the American gymnastics team's campaign at the Paris Olympics, Serena Williams shared a dedicated post for Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera to extend her support as they aimed to secure gold for the United States. Williams posted a carousel of pictures of herself in a black dress standing in front of a gold satin backdrop.
"Trying to look golden for my ladies in gymnastics. Go @simonebiles @sunisalee @jordanchiles @jadecarey @hezrivera I am loving every minute of watching you be GREAT," she wrote in the caption.
In the comments of the post, Simone Biles reacted with heart-hand emojis, while Jade Carey responded to the tennis star's message by writing:
"Yes Queen"
The American gymnastics team ended the Paris Olympics with a total of nine medals, with the majority of contributions coming from Biles, who earned four medals.
