Jade Carey suffered an ugly fall during the women's qualifications at the Paris Olympics 2024. She lost balance during a floor routine, tumbling backward, and fans on social media gave their reactions to the American's routine.

Carey didn't compete on the balance beam and the second rotation marked her first routine of the day. The 24-year-old started with a Chuso followed by a double layout but didn't stick it perfectly. Carey regained cool and continued the routine with a full-in Popa followed by chest down.

She went for a front-to-back tuck and completely lost her balance during a final tumbling pass. The 24-year-old was awarded a penalty, taking her score to a very low 10.633. Carey didn't suffer any injury and looked in good health following the routine.

One of the fans took note of the defending floor champion's routine, writing:

"Jade Carey looks physically ill. She never showed any emotion when she took floor. Then the ending..."

Various other fans sympathized with the 24-year-old gymnast.

"I'm so sad for Jade Carey but thank GOD her body backed out at just the right time when she knew she wouldn't have made that double tuck,"a fan wrote.

Jade Carey’s fall received a deduction but it was the penalty for stepping out of the floor which made a large dent in her score. By the end of the women's qualification for the second division, Carey placed 22nd in the floor exercise standings.

Only the top eight in the individual event competition qualify for the finals, and with the 22nd ranking, Jade Carey is out of the competition for finals. She is only competing once on the vault, and the score of 10.633 means that the 24-year-old won't be able to defend her floor exercise title at the Paris Olympics 2024.
