American gymnast Jade Carey was recently spotted in her training sessions, preparing for her upcoming meets with the Oregon State Beavers. Her next meet is on Saturday (Jan. 11) at the Gill Coliseum against the BYU Cougars.
This comes just a few days after her impressive performances in the last few meets. She scored an impressive 39.625 all-around score against California and UCLA in the American Gold Women's Collegiate Classic event.
Her scores include 9.900 in floor exercises and uneven bars, 9.875 in vaults and 9.950 in beam balance. This helped her side post a total of 195.775 with California topping the charts with 196.275 and UCLA followed suit with 195.225.
Following this impressive performance, Jade Carey has resumed her training for the upcoming endeavors. Carey took to her Instagram handle to share her vault training in the Beaver's training facility. In the video, she can be seen wearing a sleeveless black t-shirt and shorts as she sharpens her skills for the Saturday event.
Jade Carey opens up about the contribution of NCAA gymnastics in her elite career
Jade Carey recently explained the benefits she had in her elite career after competing in the collegiate circuit. Carey has bagged several accolades for her collegiate side, the Oregon State Beavers, including two silver (all-around and floor exercises) and one bronze (beam balance) medal she won last year at the NCAA event.
In a recent interview, Carey said that NCAA gymnastics helped her realize she could contribute much more to the gymnastics circuit. Additionally, she also spoke about her Tokyo Olympics campaign being great but named collegiate gymnastics as the element that helped her come out of her shell. She said (via Olympics.com):
"I think [NCAA] really made me fall back in love with gymnastics. Tokyo was obviously really awesome for me, but also really hard at the same time. Going to college brought me out of my shell more, gave me a little bit more confidence. It just made me love gymnastics and realize I had more to give."
In the delayed Tokyo Olympics that Jade Carey spoke about during the conversation, she bagged one medal. Notably, she won the floor exercise gold medal.
