Jade Carey stuck a perfect landing after her uneven bars routine in her Oregon State Beavers' gym. Carey was part of the US women's gymnastics team that won the gold in Paris in its redemption tour.
Carey won gold in the floor routine at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She then collected two more medals, gold in the team event and bronze in the vault at the Paris Games. A standout gymnast of the Oregon State Beavers, Carey also boasts a stellar collegiate career. At the 2024 NCAA Championships, her efforts earned her the all-around runners-up title behind LSU gymnast, Haleigh Bryant. She also tied with seven other gymnasts in the balance beam bronze podium and floor silver.
After her Paris stint, the 24-year-old announced her return to her alma mater for the senior season. In the recent Instagram story of Oregon State Beavers, she was seen maneuvering on the uneven bars until finishing in a perfect landing with her body upright and arms up in the air.
"Perfect Stick," the caption read.
Jade Carey made her NCAA debut in 2022, winning the all-around title in her first tri-meet against San Jose University and Washington University. The three-time Olympic medalist also collected gold medals in the vault, uneven bars, and floor exercise. The American continued her excellence in the following events, especially the Pac-12 Championships, where she won several accolades including two Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year honors.
Jade Carey talked about the US women's gymnastics team members' common goal
Jade Carey traveled to Tokyo as an individual gymnast but was named to the US women's gymnastics team for the Paris Olympics. Since the team faced a setback in the wake of Simone Biles' 'twisties' in Tokyo, she pointed out how important it was to prove themselves on the global stage in Paris.
"I think this is probably the hardest it’s been in a really long time to even make the team. Winning team gold would mean a lot to us girls who do make the team, because we want to show that we’re stronger than we were before." (via Elle)
The seven-time World medalist added:
"It’s not always easy to just come together and be a team right away, because we’re from all different gyms around the whole country. But we’ve seen each other enough at camps and have competed against each other at competitions. We all have a common goal.”
Following her Paris Olympic campaign, Carey received a special honor from the Beavers State Athletics. With the medals around her neck, she visited her alma mater and waved at the crowd.
