American Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles recently expressed gratitude to her teammate and dear friend, Simone Biles, for penning down the foreword to her newly launched memoir. Both were part of the US team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Her memoir, I'm That Girl: Living the Power of My Dreams is set to be released on March 4, 2025. The memoir will delve into her experiences navigating the intense psychological and physical demands of gymnastics. It'll also shed light on the harsh realities of racism she allegedly faced as a Black athlete in a predominantly white sport. Furthermore, I'm That Girl will also detail the everlasting bonds Chiles formed with her teammates and her experiences competing at the Olympic Games.
Chiles announced the update about her book on her Instagram handle on Wednesday, November 27, writing:
"Hey besties! This one has been so hard to keep quiet! I’m beyond excited to share that my book, I'M THAT GIRL: LIVING THE POWER OF MY DREAMS, is dropping on March 4th! It’s all in here — the highs, the lows, the untold stories, and the moments that shaped me into who I am today."
"This is for anyone chasing their dreams, owning their confidence, and embracing their true self unapologetically," she added.
She further thanked Biles, with whom she shares a special camaraderie both on and off the mats, for writing the foreword of her book, stating:
"A huge thank you to my sis, the GOAT @simonebiles, for writing the most incredible foreword — your love and support mean the world to me!"
"I didn't learn to stand my ground until I met her" - Jordan Chiles credits Simone Biles for helping her embrace her true self
In an interview with CNN earlier this month, Jordan Chiles shared that after meeting Simone Biles, she realized the importance of owning her own narrative. She said:
"Understanding that my story is my story, 'I'm the one who's writing it, and I didn't learn to stand my ground until I met her."
"Having somebody like her, whether people see it or don't see it - and I've been behind the scenes of what she's gone through - it's definitely cool to finally see that people are understanding where she's coming from, not just as an athlete, but also as a human," Chiles added.
Both Jordan Chiles and Simone Biles played a pivotal role in Team USA's outstanding campaign at the Paris Olympics, where the American gymnastics team collectively secured a total of ten medals.
