Jordan Chiles had joined the World Champions Center [owned by Simone Biles' adoptive parents Ron & Nellie] in 2019, and has been training alongside Biles ever since. The 23-year-old gymnast had joined the NCAA collegiate gymnastics in 2022, but had to put it on hold to focus on the preparations for Paris Olympics, where she won an Olympic gold medal in the team all-around event.
Jordan Chiles on making comeback to the NCAA season after Paris Olympics' success
Jordan Chiles has returned to the NCAA circuit after two years. She recently opened up on her return to the NCAA circuit, and why she decided to do it immediately after her campaign at the Paris Olympics.
"I had unfinished business. I know you're probably thinking, 'Jordan, you have NCAA titles, what do you have left to prove?' But I want to be able to win a natty with this team and at least come back with individual titles as well. I felt like there was something missing and I knew my story wasn't over," mentioned Chiles in an interview with ESPN.
Chiles had an eventful season in 2024. She added another medal to her kitty with her contribution to the team all-around gold medal for USA at the Paris Olympics. However, her campaign in the floor exercise event didn't exactly end on an impressive note.
Jordan Chiles was initially placed fifth, following which her coach Cecile Landi submitted an appeal for inquiry. The appeal was accepted and her execution scores were upgraded, giving Chiles an edge over the initial bronze medalist, Ana Barbosu of Romania. However, the Romanian authorities protested over the fact that Chiles' appeal was submitted beyond the stipulated time. Following an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the American gymnast' bronze medal was revoked and restored to Ana Barbosu.
