Julien Alfred and Sha'Carri Richardson stole the limelight of the women's 100m sprinting event in the Olympic year. Alfred emerged as the dominating force over the American sprinter, securing the most major titles of the year.

The Saint Lucian sprinter displayed a promising performance at the 2024 World Indoor Championships, claiming a gold medal in the 60m after posting 6.98 seconds. Richardson was the favorite in the 100m event following her electrifying performance at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

She displayed her prowess in the Olympic season's initial races, topping the event at the Prefontaine Classic with 10.83 seconds, forcing Alfred to settle in second place with 10.93 seconds. However, the Saint Lucian sprinter was all set to dominate over Richardson in the upcoming events.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Alfred clinched a gold medal in the women's 100m after defeating the American duo of Richardson and Melissa Jefferson. While Alfred clocked 10.72 seconds, Richardson had to settle with 10.87 seconds, allowing Alfred to win her second major title in 2024.

A month after the Paris Games, Richardson and Alfred locked horns at the Zurich Diamond League, where the American athlete recorded a 10.84 seconds win ahead of the latter's 10.88 seconds.

However, during the 2024 Diamond League Final in Brussels, the Olympic gold medalist defeated the silver medalist by registering 10.88 seconds, resulting in Alfred winning more titles than Sha'Carri Richardson. The American sprinter settled in eighth place with 11.23 seconds, leaving fans in shock.

Sha'Carri Richardson displayed an electrifying performance at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. She defeated the Jamaican duo of Shericka Jackson and legendary Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the 100m.

While Richardson clocked a notable time of 10.65 seconds, Jackson and Fraser-Pryce registered 10.72 and 10.77 seconds, respectively. Further, Richardson also bagged a bronze medal in the 200m after clocking a time of 21.92 seconds, settling behind Jackson's 21.41 seconds and fellow American Gabby Thomas' 21.81 seconds, respectively.

Moreover, Sha'Carri Richardson ran the anchor leg for her national team and led them to victory in the women's 4x100m relay race. The American team, including Richardson, Thomas, Tamari Davis, and Twanisha Terry clocked 41.03 seconds to defeat the Jamaican and British squads, who listed 41.21 and 41.97 seconds, respectively.
