Team Mongolia recently unveiled their uniform for the upcoming Paris Olympics, and many, including former American track and field icon, Michael Johnson, have taken a liking to it. Johnson believes that Team Mongolia deserves a gold medal for the attire itself.
Team Mongolia's ensemble has been designed by the popular Michel & Amazonka label; this marks the second consecutive time the brand has curated uniforms for the Mongolian team for the quadrenniel event.
The dresses feature Olympic and national notifs like the Olympic torch, the Nine White Banners, the Paris Olympics emblem, and images of the sun, moon, and the Gua-Maral, which is a kind of mythical deer revered as the legendary ancestor of Genghis Khan. All these symbols are embroidered on the uniforms with a golden thread.
The meticulous attention to detail in Team Mongolia's uniforms has captured the attention of sports fans and pundits alike, with some even labeling it the most beautiful uniform for the Olympics.
Joining the list of admirers was four-time Olympic champion Michael Johnson, who retweeted a post about the dresses by Outlander Magazine. Outlander Magazine tweeted:
"Team Mongolia Uniforms for the 2024 Paris Olympics designed by Michel & Amazonka"
Replying to the tweet, Johnson wrote:
"Just go ahead and give them them the🥇now for best uniform!"
Michael Johnson discusses the United States' medal prospects at the Paris Olympics 2024
Even after retiring from his decorated track-running career in 2008, Michael Johnson keeps himself engaged in track and field debates on his social media handles.
A fan recently questioned the Olympian on the possibility of Team USA securing more than one medal, considering the formidable competition from the likes of Kishane Thompson, Letsile Tebogo, Marcell Jacobs, and others.
Michael Johnson replied in the affirmative, naming the likes of Noah Lyles, Fred Kerley, and Kenny Bednarek as strong contenders.
"Yes. US has 2 World Champs: Noah and Fred. Kenny has deep championship experience at 200 and running well at 100. Jamaica could also. Kishane running like a beast right now but don’t sleep on Oblique. 4th in the last two WCH finals! Question is can Africa put two on the podium?," he wrote.
Furthermore, Michael Johnson also opined that breaking a world record is within the reach of Noah Lyles and added that Lyles' top-end speed has improved drastically in the last few years. Johnson suggested that the 26-year-old needs to figure out how he can bring the same "top speed" to the Paris Olympics for things to go in his favor.
