Simone Biles recently spoke about her plans for the upcoming months. The American athlete, who is currently enjoying the holiday season after a victorious campaign at the Paris Olympics, which included three gold medals and one silver medal, revealed that she would like to go on a couple of vacations with her husband Jonathan Owens in the upcoming months.
Biles began 2024 with the Paris Olympics in foresight. Her third consecutive appearance at the quadrennial games in the French Capital was seen as a shot at redemption by fans, as she had withdrawn from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic) due to mental health concerns. The American gymnast lived up to the expectations as she asserted her dominance on the mat, becoming the most decorated gymnast of all time.
Off the mat, she made several media appearances after the Olympics and often shared glimpses of her life with her fans on social media. Biles is often seen cheering for her husband Jonathan Owens from the sidelines during NFL game days.
She recently opened up about her plans for the new year and upcoming months in an interview with People. The Olympic gold medalist expressed her desire to give back to the community as they have stood behind her and supported her during tough times.
“Jonathan and I want to go on a couple of vacations, we're planning those out right now. But other than that, just trying to give back to the community as much as I can because they've supported me through this journey,” she said.
Simone Biles on her decision to give back to the community
Simone Biles expressed her thoughts on giving back to the community in an interview with US Weekly. The American athlete shed light on using her influence to create a positive impact in the community as well as pave a path for upcoming athletes by giving them the necessary support.
"Giving back to the community is a given. They’ve supported me throughout my entire career. At the end of the day, if I can do something to support them — to help uplift and to bring some holiday cheer, especially around some hard times like this — that’s what I’m going to do," she said.
"It’s just an absolutely amazing thing. I was like, ‘I definitely have to do this and get involved,’ especially with so many kids growing up in sports, helping to build their communities. I thought it was really important," she added.
Furthermore, the 27-year-old revealed that the community's support during tough times like the Tokyo Olympics helped her emerge back stronger.
