Olympic champion Katie Ledecky recently reunited with teammate and Olympic champion Lilly King. The two swimmers were in Gainesville, celebrating the New Year with some of their fellow swimmers.
King recently uploaded an Instagram story where she was enjoying a holiday in Gainesville, Florida, alongside Ledecky, Annie Lazor, Isabel Ivey, and Natalie Hinds. She captioned her Instagram story as:
"Part 20 of I have friends - they just don't live near me. Quick weekend trip to Gainesville to see my favorite gals."
Ledecky not only liked the Instagram story, but she also re-shared it on her Instagram account. The 27-year-old swimmer is preparing for the upcoming season of 2025 since she had already declared that she would take part in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Katie Ledecky had a roller coaster ride at the Paris Olympics. She barely managed to avoid a podium miss when she finished third in the women's 400m freestyle. Ledecky contributed to a silver medal for Team USA in the 4x200m freestyle, before winning gold medals in her favorite events: the women's 800m freestyle and the women's 1500m freestyle events, respectively.
With that, Ledecky's medal count has gone up to a total of 14 Olympic medals, making her the most decorated female swimmer of all time.
Katie Ledecky on competing in front of home crowd at the LA 2028 Olympics
Katie Ledecky recently opened up on the thought of participating in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. It would be the first time since 1996 that the Olympics will be held in the USA, and it would be the first time since 1984 that the quadrennial event would be held in Los Angeles.
In a conversation just after the end of the Paris Olympics, Ledecky stated,
"I would love to be there. I have to take it year by year at this point and I can't fully say whether I'll be swimming in it or not, but I'll definitely be in LA. I would love to compete in front of a home crowd. So, as long as I'm loving swimming and enjoying the sport, I'm going to give the sport everything I have. And hopefully, I'll be in LA." Since her debut at the London Olympics in 2012, Katie Ledecky has had an interesting run at the Olympics. She has been invincible in the 800m freestyle event for four consecutive times, including the Paris Olympics. If the American swimmer wins the event at the Los Angeles Olympics, Ledecky would be the first Olympian since Mijain Lopez of Cuba to win five consecutive Olympic gold medals in a single event.
