Katie Ledecky offered a glimpse of Team USA's first swimming training session in Paris, just four days before the 2024 Paris Olympics swimming events kick off. Ledecky will enter the Summer Games as a heavy favorite for medals in the 400m, 800m, and 1500m freestyle events, as well as the relay events. She won the 200m qualification as well but didn't confirm her participation yet.

Katie Ledecky, inarguably the most decorated female swimmer in history, already boasts seven Olympic golds in her repertoire. She also showcased her prowess at the World Championships, which earned her 21 gold and five silver medals. Her world medal tally made her the only female swimmer with such an achievement. Katie Ledecky holds the world records in the 1500m and 800m freestyle, and the fastest-ever times in the 1650-, 1000-, and 500-yard freestyle events.

Headed to the highly anticipated event, slated to kick off on July 27, Ledecky landed in Paris with gold medals and world records in foresight. She took to her Instagram story to offer a sneak peek into the Paris La Defense Arena, where the Olympic qualifiers have already hit the pool for their first training session.

"BonJour!" she greeted through a GIF.

She unexpectedly won the 800m freestyle event at the 2012 London Olympics and walked out of the 2016 Rio Olympics with four gold medals, one silver, and two world records. Ledecky has broken sixteen world records across her career.

At the 2023 World Aquatic Championships, Ledecky swept the 800m and 1500m freestyle gold, extending her individual gold medal tally to 16 and surpassing the greatest Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps.

Katie Ledecky - "I definitely could see myself competing in 2028"

Katie Ledecky will head to the fourth Olympic Games of her career and foresees herself competing at the 2028 LA Olympics as well. She expressed pride in herself for being one of the athletes who would have an opportunity to compete in LA.

"I take things year by year, but right now, I definitely could see myself competing in 2028, with it being a home Olympics. It's something that's very unique. It's something that not every Olympic athlete gets. And so I definitely know I'm not retiring after this summer and 2028 is very appealing," she said. (via NPR)

The four-time Olympian will look to extend her Olympic gold medal tally to ten at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

US President Joe Biden bestowed the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Ledecky earlier this year, for her impressive string of successes in the swimming world.
