Caeleb Dressel and his wife Meghan recently revealed the gender of their second child, nearly a month after announcing that they were expecting their second baby in mid-2025. The couple have now received warm messages from fellow swimmers including Katie Ledecky and Torri Huske.
Dressel and Meghan held a small gender reveal party with their baby son August Wilder, as seen in the video the couple shared on Instagram on Sunday (Dec. 22). With a Christmas tree on the side as well, they were joyous when the mystery box revealed that their second baby was going to be a girl.
"BABY DRESSEL #2 IS A……GIRL!!!😭🎀🌸🥹💖🌷🩰🩷. We are so, so excited to welcome our little lady 🤍," they captioned the video.
Dressel's teammate and nine-time Olympic champion Katie Ledecky shared the joy with the couple, commenting with a series of emojis under the post.
"🩷🩷🩷," she posted
Torri Huske, who won three gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, was elated by the couple's announcement. Expressing her excitement in the comments, she wrote:
"YAYYYY."
Former American swimmer Katie Hoff was equally joyous for the couple and said their baby girl was up for a huge amount of love and care.
"Yesssss congrats yall !!! 😍❤️ so much love headed that little girls way," she commented.
Dressel and Meghan announced last month that they were expecting their second baby in June 2025. The couple welcomed their first baby, son August Wilder, in February 2024, three years after turning high-school love into marriage.
"It's a tough one trying to figure out what he needs" - Caeleb Dressel on parenthood
Speaking in an interview with Olympics.com ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Caeleb Dressel explained that parenthood had been tough for him and his wife Meghan as the couple tried to figure out what was best for their son August.
“I think the most obvious example was, if you read any article or any book, it says to swaddle a newborn baby. But August hated it. So we just went against what everything said. And we left his arms out and he started sleeping a lot better after that. So yeah, I think just working together with Megan and trying our best to figure out what August needs - he can't talk. So it's a tough one trying to figure out what he needs," he said.
However, the nine-time Olympic champion added that it was a fulfilling experience and loved being a father.
“It's definitely a different routine, but that doesn't mean that it's bad. It's been very fulfilling and I’ve loved stepping into that role with Megan," Caeleb Dressel added.
Dressel competed as a father in his first Olympics in Paris 2024. Although he didn't win any medals in the individual events, the 28-year-old pocketed two gold medals and one silver in the relay events.
