Kenny Bednarek reveals upcoming travel destination for off-season following his exploits in Diamond League and Paris Olympics

Kenny Bednarek recently revealed his upcoming travel destination, where he will be heading for the off-season following his successful 2024 campaign. In 2024, Bednarek achieved remarkable success as he not only bagged his second successive Olympic silver at the Paris Olympics but also claimed the Diamond League title in the finals held in Brussels.

At the Paris Olympics, the American sprinter ran a sensational 19.62s in the men’s 200m to only finish second to Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo, who delivered an African record time of 19.46s. However, the 25-year-old then avenged his Olympic Games loss to Tebogo (19.80s) as he won the Brussels Diamond League Final, clocking a 19.67s.

Recently, the 25-year-old asked his followers on X (formerly Twitter) where they would travel if they could go anywhere in the world right now. He questioned:

“If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?”

One of his followers responded to this, stating:

“Bali 🙌🏼”

Bednarek then revealed that he was planning to travel to Bali, Indonesia.

“My next trip in two week,” he said.

Besides his exploits in the Paris Olympics and Diamond League final, some other notable accomplishments of the 2022 World Championships silver medalist this season were contributing to the USA team’s triumph at the World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas and setting a new personal best in the 200m with a 19.57s at the Zurich Diamond League.

Last year, Kenny Bednarek said that although he frequently travels to different countries for work, he barely had the time to fully explore them. However, during the off-season, he has made it a priority to travel with his girlfriend, Sharmila Nicollet. He talked about this on his YouTube channel (5:26 onwards), stating:

“I get to travel a lot and it's great to see all the different countries and see different cultures but I don't really get the time to be there to consume all that. I'm there for work there for four days you know so I'm solely focused on the task at hand and after that I have maybe a day or a couple hours and then I gotta go to the next spot."

"Me and my girlfriend [Nicollet] we always make it a point to go travel in the off season and I want to go to South Africa, Maldives, and then North India and just explore the jungle.”

Bednarek added:

“I just love exploring the world and trying new things, different foods, different hobbies. There's more to life than sport and there's a beautiful world out there and I encourage you all to actually go out and see the world.”

So far, Bednarek has traveled to countries such as Thailand, the Bahamas, and India, among some notable destinations.
