Former Nebraska Cornhuskers star Lauren Stivrins recently commented on Lexi Rodriguez's presence at the opening leg of the League One Volleyball. The 21-year-old joined the Omaha Volleyball after the Cornhuskers' semifinal elimination from the NCAA Championships.
The Cornhuskers uploaded a group photo of Rodriguez, Stivrins, Madi Kubik, Olympic silver medalist Justine Wong-Orantes etc., who are not only a part of the Omaha Volleyball team, but also once represented the Cornhuskers at the NCAA Championships. The Huskers captioned the post as:
"We know her! (x5) 🥹 #ProBigRed"
Stivrins commented on the post:
"Did someone say dream team🌟💚?"
Stivrins represented the Cornhuskers until 2021, when they finished runners-up at the NCAA Championships. She graduated the same year from the University of Nebraska, and decided to turn pro the next year, joining the Athletes Unlimited.
On the other hand, Lexi Rodriguez continued to represent the Cornhuskers until 2024. The Cornhuskers had finished runners-up in 2023, but were eliminated in the semifinals last year, losing to the eventual champions from the Penn State Nittany Lions team by 2-3.
Lexi Rodriguez on the transition from collegiate level to pro career with LOVB Omaha
Lexi Rodriguez switched to a pro career after her career as a collegiate player came to an end with the 2024 edition of the NCAA Championships. She opened up on transition from a collegiate player to a professional one, and how it transformed her.
“It's been super crazy, definitely a complete 180. It also feels like I've been here way longer than just a couple weeks. So that's pretty awesome and a huge shout-out to just the coaching staff and the players for giving me a warm welcome. But yeah, I mean finishing off and then being here a few days later was definitely a lot to adjust too,” she said.
The trailblazing player from Illinois also talked about her career as a player for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Soon after the loss to the Penn State University in the NCAA Championships semifinals, Rodriguez mentioned:
“Just everyone, every single person a part of this program. It's just truly amazing people. And they really changed my life. And they just believed in me. Every single person. Every single day. From the moment that I stepped on campus. And you can't find that anywhere. You truly can't."
After experiencing their first loss against Team Austin in League One Volleyball, Lexi Rodriguez and her teammates will now proceed to Atlanta. They'll play their next match on February 2.
