The track and field athletes will return for the Lausanne Diamond League after the successful conclusion of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 11th stop of the Wanda Diamond League series, known as the Athletissima meeting, will open its gates on August 22, 2024. With nearly 15 events in the line-up, the meeting promises a highly competitive show by a wealth of Olympic and world champions and world record holders.

The headliners of the Athletissima meeting, also known as Lausanne Diamond League, include 200m Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo, his US counterpart Fred Kerley, pole vault reigning champion Mondo Duplantis, and the 400m specialist, Quincy Hall, among others.

Fred Kerley pulled out from the 200m entry list of the Paris Olympics after earning a qualification in the 100m alongside Noah Lyles and Kenny Bednarek. He took the 100m bronze behind Lyles and Kishane Thompson, clocking 9.81s at Stade de France. In his absence, the Botswanian sprinter Letsile Tebogo soared to the 200m victory, claiming the first-ever Olympic gold medal for his country.

The two promising athletes will compete in the 200m at the Lausanne Diamond League. Erriyon Knighton, the 2023 world championship silver-medalist in the 200m will also compete in the same. On the other hand, Mondo Duplantis will headline the men's pole vault event as the reigning Olympic champion and world record holder. He cleared 6.25m and broke the world record for the ninth time at the 2024 Summer Games.

The 100m hurdles of the Lausanne Diamond League list will include the 2021 Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico, Paris Olympics silver medalist Cyréna Samba-Mayela, and reigning world champion, Danielle Williams.

Other notable athletes set to compete at the Lausanne Diamond League 2024

The men's long jump event of the Lausanne Diamond League will feature Wayne Pinnock of Jamaica, double Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou of Greece, and Mattia Furlani of Italy.

The 400m men's lineup will witness the Paris Olympic champion, Quincy Hall, who clocked 43:40s, the fifth fastest time in history. Joining him will be the European record holder Matthew Hudson Smith, and the Paris bronze medalist Muzala Samukonga of Zambia.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen will grace the track in the 1500m. He is slated to go up against the surprise Olympic champion, Cole Hocker of the US. The latter not only clinched his maiden Olympic gold but also set the Olympic record and a North American area record of 3:27.65s.

Femke Bol, the 2023 World champion in the 400m hurdles, will compete in the same against US hurdler, Shamier Little, at the Lausanne Diamond League.

The Lausanne Diamond League event at La Pontaise will reportedly seat 13,000 spectators.
