Tara Davis-Woodhall has announced that she has started her preparations for the 2025 season, warning her competitors that she is 'ready for war'. The American long-jumper had an impressive 2024 season, winning her maiden gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Davis-Woodhall started off her 2024 season early in January at the Razorback Invitational, recording an impressive jump of 6.76m for the win. She continued to dominate domestic long jump competitions before winning the World Indoor title in Glasgow.
She placed first at the U.S. Olympic Trials in June and then put up a dominating show at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She jumped an impressive 7.10m in the finals to win her maiden Olympic medal and later concluded her season at the Rome Diamond League.
After enjoying her off-season with her husband Hunter Woodhall, the 25-year-old has now announced the start of her training for the 2025 season. Davis-Woodhall took to Threads to send a strong message to her opponents, writing:
"Day 1 of 2025 szn…. Let it be known a new Tara has emerged and she’s ready for war 🤝🏽"
The Olympic champion recorded her personal best jump, 7.18m, in the 2024 season and will have her sights on bettering that mark in 2025 and of course, winning her first World title.
Tara Davis-Woodhall misses out on the Female Track Athlete of the Year award
Tara Davis-Woodhall was initially nominated for the World Athletics 2024 Female Track Athlete of the Year award along with Valarie Allman, Nina Kennedy, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, and Nafissatou Thiam. However, the Olympic champion didn't receive enough votes and wasn't named among the two finalists for the award.
Davis-Woodhall opened up about the loss in an Instagram story, claiming she had given her best effort in the 2024 season.
"We tried butt congrats to these incredible ladies who have done things i haven't even touched yet. sooon tho, " Tara Davis-Woodhall wrote
Mahuchikh and Thiam were voted as the finalists for the award, with the winner to be declared on December 1. Mahuchikh is the 2024 Olympic champion in the high jump and also broke the world record in the event last season while Thiam secured the heptathlon title at the Paris Olympics and is also the world leader of the season in the event.
