Suni Lee, Olivia Dunne, and many LSU Tigers gymnasts recently reacted to Hezly Rivera's verbal commitment to LSU for her collegiate career. Rivera was a member of the USA’s women’s all-around team that won gold at the Paris Olympics.
Although Rivera didn’t compete in the final of the women’s all-around team event, the 16-year-old featured in the qualification where she performed on the uneven bars and balance beam apparatus.
Notably, she also became the youngest USA athlete to represent the nation at the Paris Olympics after qualifying for the five-member women's team for the quadrennial games at the US Olympic Gymnastics Trials. She did so by finishing fifth in the women's individual all-around with a score of 111.15 points.
Recently, Rivera announced her verbal commitment to LSU via her Instagram handle. She wrote:
“I am so blessed & excited to announce that I have verbally committed to Louisiana State University (LSU🙃) on a full athletic scholarship. Thank you Jesus for this wonderful blessing! Thank you to my family, coaches, and teammates for helping me throughout this process. I also want to thank all the girls, coaches, and staff at LSU for everything💜 GEAUX TIGERS 💜💛”
