Olympic champion Mondo Duplantis recently got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Desire Inglander. The two recently celebrated the special occasion with their family, the photos of which were uploaded on Duplantis' Instagram account.
However, that was not all. Inglander also uploaded a special moment from the engagement night. The caption of her Instagram post read:
"Life is not real"
The Instagram post had a video where Duplantis and his fiance shared a beautiful moment, with a picturesque background of the Northern Lights phenomena behind them. Inglander also mentioned it in the reel, as she wrote,
"We saw the northern lights for the first time the night we celebrated our engagement."
Inglander is a content creator and influencer by profession. She met Duplantis four years ago in Stockholm. The Swedish model wasn't initially interested in Duplantis, but the two slowly warmed up to each other. Inglander and Duplantis announced their engagement on October 11, after the latter surprised her by proposing to her at a photo shoot for Vogue Scandinavia in New York City.
Mondo Duplantis has had one of the most successful seasons of his athletic career this year. Apart from the Olympic gold at the Paris Olympics, the Swedish pole vaulter broke his world record not once but thrice.

Mondo Duplantis finally popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, Desire Inglander. However, the Swedish-American pole vaulter was filled with jitters and nervousness leading up to the proposal.
Duplantis recounted how he felt about the proposal in a conversation with Vogue Scandinavia. The 24-year-old said,
"This is way more nerve-wracking [than competing]."
Duplantis recalled the first time he met Inglander in 2020. In his interview with PEOPLE channel, Duplantis said,
"So at the party, I was just trying to talk to Desiré, like ‘Hey, what’s up, I’m Mondo...’ but she didn’t want anything to do with it or me. She just wanted to dance."
The two-time Olympic gold medalist revealed that he had been preparing for this moment [the proposal] ever since he broke the world record for the ninth time at the Paris Olympics. However, he was still nervous, moments before he actually took the step. The pole vaulter recalled to Vogue Scandinavia what his girlfriend meant to him.
"Desiré brings me such a great balance in life. It’s so nice to be able to come home and escape into a completely different world, absorb ourselves in each other and whatever we’re doing," said the Olympic champion.
Mondo Duplantis broke the world record for the ninth time when he won his second consecutive Olympic gold medal at the Paris Olympics, jumping to a height of 6.25m. He further broke his record at the Silesia Diamond League, when he jumped up to the mark of 6.26m.
