Lindsey Vonn was recently cheered by the French alpine ski racer, Alexis Pinturault, as the American gears up to make her comeback in alpine skiing. The 40-year-old will compete in her first race since 2018 at the Birds of Prey course in Beaver Creek.
Vonn has had a stellar career in skiing, starting from her Olympic debut in 2002, when she was just 17 years old. She attained multiple medals and accomplishments in competitive skiing before retiring from the sport in 2019, citing a severe knee injury. The American has recently recovered after getting knee surgeries and multiple treatments and has now decided to get back to the slopes.
After the comeback announcement, the 40-year-old is currently gearing up for her first official race at the Birds of Prey Audi FIS Ski World Cup, which is slated for December 6-15, 2024. Amidst this, she was recently cheered by one of her competitors, Alexis Pinturault. Lindsey Vonn shared a video on her Instagram story, where she was seen standing with the French skier, who said:
"Lindsey is back."
Vonn also wrote on the story:
"And he's back!! Good luck! @alexispinturault!!"
She also shared another video, where she cheered for her USA teammates, including Ryan Cochran-Siegle and Sam Morse. She wrote:

Lindsey Vonn opens up about her feelings ahead of competing in her first official race
Lindsey Vonn is ready to compete in her first official race at the Birds of Prey World Cup on December 7 and has penned a heartfelt note, reflecting on finding her way back to skiing after not competing for almost six years. Along with this, she also revealed that she will be back in her 100% with the sport in time. The 40-year-old shared a picture of herself in skiing gear and added the caption:
"Happy to be able to take another step this weekend 💃🏼! Technically tomorrow will be my first race but I’m using it as a training opportunity to keep on building. 📈 100% will come in time but not tomorrow.It’s been 6 years since I last raced so I still have a lot of equipment to test, finding my groove and really getting into racing form. I am having a lot of fun and want to keep on doing so!"
She added:

Lindsey Vonn has won a total of three Olympic medals in her career, of which one is gold and two are bronze medals. Apart from this, she has delivered staunch performances at the World Cup races, having won a total of 82 gold medals, 35 silver medals, and 20 bronze medals.
