Lindsey Vonn shares recipe for success to upcoming skiers
Lindsey Vonn opened up about being accountable to herself, a key thing that contributed to her career success.
The retired alpine skier explained that she learned to be alone and work alone since skiing is an individual sport. Speaking to Sharp Magazine, Vonn noted that she always went into competitions expecting anything to happen.
"Skiing is an individual sport, so when you’re in the starting gate, no one’s helping you. You’re skiing down the mountain by yourself, and you’re 100% responsible for the outcome. I think knowing that win or lose, you hold the power in your own hands, is really empowering," Vonn said.
"You have to be 100% present. You can’t be thinking about anything else, whether it’s personal or professional. You can’t be distracted for one second, otherwise, you could literally die;" she added.
Vonn managed to make a name for herself during her time as a professional athlete. She won an Olympic gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games in the Downhill category and claimed a bronze medal in the Super-G category. She claimed a bronze medal at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Games.
She also has eight World Championships medals. She won two gold medals at the 2009 Val-d'Isère global bonanza. Vonn claimed three silver medals and three bronze medals too.
