Lindsey Vonn is one of the most decorated skiers of all-time and has returned to the slopes six years after her retirement. Most recently, the Players' Tribune shared an old, childhood photo of the American celebrating Christmas, leading her to react with a two-word response.
Vonn first rose to fame as a teenager, making her World Cup debut in 2000, aged just 16-years-old. In the next two decades, she went on to establish herself as one of the best skiers to ever grace the slopes, winning 82 World Cup races, 16 World Cup discipline titles, and four overall titles. Her career also saw her win three Olympic medals, including one gold, and eight World Championships medals, including two golds.
In 2019, the skier called time on her career due to injury issues with her knee, but returned to the slopes earlier this year after a successful knee replacement surgery. Vonn made her World Cup debut earlier this month, finishing 14th, and is now enjoying the holiday season with her family.

Lindsey Vonn reflects on her comeback after knee surgery
Over the course of Lindsey Vonn’s career, the American dealt with multiple knee injuries and surgeries, which eventually led to her retirement in 2019. In April earlier this year, Vonn underwent partial knee replacement surgery for her right knee.
A little over six months later, she announced that she was making a professional comeback to skiing. Her first race back was the FIS Fall Festival on December 7, where she finished with enough points to qualify for the World Cup circuit.
Vonn made her World Cup debut in St.Moritz earlier this month, finishing 14th after two impressive runs. Speaking about competing after her knee replacement surgery, the skier said she felt stronger than before, saying (as quoted by CNN),
“The last few years of my career were so much different than they are right now. I’m skiing without thinking about my knee, which I really haven’t done since I first tore my ACL in 2013. So it’s been a long time that I felt this good. I’m a little bit older, but honestly I’m a hell of a lot stronger than I once was.”
She went on to add that she felt ‘amazing'.
“I feel amazing. I mean, obviously not everyone responds the same way to surgeries. For some reason, I bounce back pretty well from surgery. But I think it’s something to seriously consider for athletes that have a lot of knee problems.”
After her return to the World Cup circuit, Lindsey Vonn is now scheduled to race in St. Anton between January 9 and 12, competing in the downhill and super-G events.
