Lindsey Vonn expressed her excitement as she returned to Europe to train with the US Ski Team amid the ongoing Alpine Skiing season. This season holds great importance to the former World Cup champion as she came out of retirement nearly after six years.
Vonn went under the knife in early 2024 to treat recurring issues with her knee. After undergoing a partial knee replacement surgery and months of rehabilitation, she was spotted training on the slopes of New Zealand in October 2024. Weeks later, she announced that she will be making a professional comeback in the skiing circuit.
She made her season debut at the FIS Fall Festival in Colorado and gained enough points to qualify to compete in the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup. Lindsey Vonn competed in her first World Cup race of 2024 at the World Cup in St. Moritz in the Super G, where she finished 14th overall. The 40-year-old revealed that she hoped to make steady improvements as the season progressed and wanted to enjoy the process of competing professionally once again.
The former World Cup champion is expected to compete in her first downhill World Cup race in St. Anton, Austria, and took to Instagram to share her excitement about returning to Europe and reuniting with the US women's ski team.
"Made it back to Europe… training hard and loving the time with all of the @usskiteam women! Excited for more races soon 😍" she wrote.

Lindsey Vonn took to Instagram to express her thoughts as she reflected on returning to the slopes to compete professionally after 2019. The American Alpine Skier revealed that she was content with her performance and called it a 'perfect start' as she looked forward to the upcoming races of the season.
"I’m officially BACK!! 🙌🏻❤️ It’s been 2,162 days since my last World Cup race (almost 6 years!) but yesterday I got back in the starting gate and competed once again. I finished 14th, which was a perfect place to start. This is only the beginning though, and I’m looking forward to all of the adventures that lie ahead," she wrote.
Furthermore, she thanked her fans, coaches, and family members for their unwavering support as she decided to come out of retirement to take to the slopes once again in an attempt to continue her pursuits to achieve greatness.
