Iga Swiatek looks up to Lindsey Vonn as an inspiration
Lindsey Vonn has inspired a generation throughout her career with her fierce competitiveness, determination, and never-give-up attitude. Iga Swiatek opened up about being inspired by the Alpine skiing legend during a post-match press conference at the Madrid Open.
“I feel like for sure she’s the person to talk to if I need advice or I just want to talk to somebody who’s cool, because she’s really cool. We’ve been actually kind of talking about also, the mental game here. She gave me some tips, so maybe she wanted to be part of the team," she said.
But for sure you can feel like, I don’t know, her power even with the way she talks and her confidence. So for sure this is something that I might learn from her," she added. (2:42)
Apart from inspiring the upcoming generation of athletes, Vonn is taking several initiatives to be an integral part of the growth of women's sports. Earlier this year, she became a part owner of the Utah Royals FC, a team that would be making a comeback in the National Women's Soccer League.
