Vonn is in the French capital to watch and support some of her favorite athletes at the Paris Olympics 2024. The Olympic Gold medallist has also been assigned the new role of chief of athlete experience and will look after the athletes' families at the Winter Games in 2034.
In addition to the likes of Tom Cruise, John Legend, and Lady Gaga, Vonn was present at the gymnastics arena, where she posted an Instagram story showcasing Simone Biles performing somersault on the floor. The former alpine skier wrote a note praising Biles, stating:
"@simonebiles 🐐 does it again! Amazing performance all around!!"
Biles, during her floor exercise warmups, suffered from a leg injury scare. She then briefly left the floor with the doctors and returned with her ankle taped. Despite the injury, Biles topped the leaderboard, posting a superb all-around total of 59.566.
The first task of the qualifying day for Biles was the balance beam, where she gave one of the best performances of her career. She scored 14.733 on the balance beam, advancing to the beam finals.
The 27-year-old then performed an impressive vault routine, featuring her best move, the Yurchenko double pike, which earned her a score of 15.8 points. With this, the all-around score of the USA team reached 172.296 points, placing them ahead of Italy and China.
Seven-time Olympic medallist Biles is expected to go up against compatriot Suni Lee in the balance beam finals.
