Lindsey Vonn is one of the most successful skiers of all-time, having won more than 80 World Cup races. Recently, the American reflected on her 2024 with a short note as she shared glimpses of her year with fans.

Vonn first came into the spotlight in 1999, when she, alongside Will McDonald, became the first American athlete to emerge victorious at the "Cadets" slalom events in Italy's Trofeo Topolino di Sci Alpino. She made her World Cup debut a year later, and the next two decades saw her dominate the slopes like no other. She claimed a total of 137 World Cup podium finishes, 82 victories, 16 discipline titles and four overall titles.

While persistent injuries forced the 40-year-old to retire from the sport in 2019, she made her comeback to it last year, after a successful partial knee replacement surgery. Reflecting on her year dealing with surgery and a return to the slopes, Vonn took to Instagram to share a video of herself riding an Efoil, working out in the gym, and taking a walk on the beach. She captioned the video,

“Finished 2024 strong.”

In April 2024, Lindsey Vonn underwent a partial knee replacement due to the multiple injuries she suffered to her knee throughout her career. A few months later, she announced that she was officially returning to skiing, six years after calling time on her career.

Vonn made her return to the slopes official at the FIS Fall Festival in December, where she earned enough points to return to the World Cup circuit. She made her World Cup debut at St. Mortiz, finishing an impressive 14th upcoming her comeback. Reflecting on her return to the top level of competition, the skier wrote on Instagram,

“I'm officially BACK!!. It's been 2,162 days since my last World Cup race (almost 6 years!) but yesterday I got back in the starting gate and competed once again. I finished 14th, which was a perfect place to start. This is only the beginning though, and I'm looking forward to all of the adventures that lie ahead. Thank you to everyone who made this weekend so incredible! My team, my family, the organizers, volunteers and all of the amazing fans... THANK YOU!!.”

After her impressive run in St.Moritz, Lindsey Vonn is next scheduled to be in action at the St. Anton World Cup, where she will race in the downhill and super-G events.
